Dear all,

I wanted to let everyone know that, after very careful consideration, I have accepted a new role within the DVSA as a Driving Examiner. The position was offered to me on Friday 7th February, so I’m keen to give you as much notice as possible.

I’m due to take up my new post the first week of March 2025, and therefore, my Instructional Licence will be removed from me and I will not be allowed to teach as this conflicts with the role of an Examiner.

Therefore, I’m sorry to say that my last week of lessons will be week commencing Monday 24th February 2025, my last lesson being on Friday 28th February 2025.

I’m conscious that several clients have tests booked, and I will, where possible, try and recommend reputable local instructors who may be able to take over lessons and continue your training. I have listed some colleagues details below who may be able to assist you.

Lessons with me will continue as normal unless I’m instructed otherwise, until Friday 28th Feb which, as I say, will be my last day of lessons.

For any clients who have blocks of lessons still left, I will prioritise my diary to ensure that purchased lessons are accommodated within this period as much as possible, any lessons remaining on 28/2/25 will be refunded, I'm afraid I cannot refund prepaid lessons before this date.

For clients who's credit has expired, or for "Pay per lesson" clients, please could I ask that you pay weekly from now on and not purchase blocks of lessons.'

I will be very sorry to leave front line teaching after 20 years, but, with the current situation re wait times for driving tests, and clients taking reduced lessons in the run up to a test, the situation is now becoming unviable. I felt I had to do something positive to help ease the wider situation, so the time is right for a change of career.
